Abstract
Ipomoea aquatica is one of the medicinally important plants belonging to the family convolvulaceae. Traditionally use of Ipomoea aquatica treat to diabetics. The present investigation deals with GC-MS determination of methanol extract FT-IR analysis of the above said plant. Eight phytochemical constitutes have been identified by comparing the chromatogram, peak value of unknown compound with entries in NIST database, Neophytadiene, Hexadecanoic acid, Linolenicacid, 9,12,15 – Octadecatrienoic acid methyl ester (z,z,z), prevailing compounds in the methanol extract of I.aquatica. The presence of various bioactive compounds confirms the application of I.aquatica for various treatment.
